The BCSPL is a standards-based development environment for female and male players aged U13 to U18 and is positioned as the highest level of youth development community soccer within BC. Its purpose is to bring together identified players from the BC Soccer membership into training and game environments that supports overall development, as well as providing further opportunities for player identification into higher levels of play including Provincial programming, University, Professional / National teams programming and progressing into adult community soccer.
Comox Valley United SC has a strategic partnership with Nanaimo United (NUFC) and were involved in the development and set up of their program. We are a designated partner club of NUFC and a local training hub for the North Island and offer 1 of 3 weekly training sessions locally. Our technical staff make player recommendations to NUFC for selection purposes.
Beginning in the fall of 2022, known as Phase 2 or the Fall Season (Sept. - Nov.), Nanaimo United FC introduced a U13 Intake team (for players born in 2010) to the BCSPL.
An additional age group will be added each subsequent year.
The BCSPL is also designed to support the development of coaches and referees, who are required to attain a minimum level of certification to ensure high standards are in place. This is complimented with ongoing technical support through the BCSPL Participating Clubs, BC Soccer and Canada Soccer.
It is important to note that participating Clubs in the BCSPL have received Canada Soccer’s National Youth Club License (NYCL) which covers the highest standards of administration, governance, infrastructure, and technical criteria. Nanaimo United FC achieved NYCL status in the fall of 2021.
How do players get involved?
Currently 2022 rosters are finalized. Please check back with NUFC in Spring 2023 for intake information for players entering U13 in the 2023-24 season (born 2011).
