Your soccer community needs you!

Comox Valley United are looking to recruit a new wave of Referees to serve our community, Referees are an important part of soccer in the Valley.  Without them games can’t go ahead, and an important part of player development is missing.

If you are an ex-player, or just someone that loves the game and wants to earn some cash whilst staying fit, we would love to hear from you!  Our Referees get paid upto $50 per game and full kit is provided.

We have a mentor program with older referees providing on field feedback.  We host social events through out the season starting with a ‘kick off’ evening with an education and pizza night in early September.

Courses Spring 2022

Entry Level Referee Course

Who can do the course: Anyone 14 or older on March 31st 2022

What’s Involved: The course consists of 2 online zoom sessions and one on field session (All are compulsory to graduate)

• 16 hours of guided online training
• Webinar 1 - Thursday Apr 7, 2022 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
• Online exam (pass required of on-field session)
• On field session - Sunday Apr 24, 2022 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Cost: $129.25 - This will be reimbursed once you have refereed 2 games.

• Select ‘Comox Valley’ from the ‘Search by Club’ menu
• Select to ‘register’ for course #1762 (Entry Level)
• Follow the steps and pay (if you are already a Small Sided ref you will likely need to create a new login)

Small Sided Referee Course

Who can do the course: Anyone 12 or older on March 31st 2022

What’s Involved: The course consists of 2 online zoom sessions and one on field session (All are compulsory to graduate)

• Webinar 1 - Tuesday Apr 5th 2022 6pm to 8pm
• Webinar 2 - Tuesday Apr 12th 2022 6pm to 8pm
• On field session - Sunday Apr 24th 9:30am - 11:30am

Cost:  $44.46 - This will be reimbursed once you have refereed 2 games.

What to expect as a new referee:

As a new referee you will be asked to ref some of the U10 age groups, initially with the help of a mentor.  Once you are comfortable, you will assist more experienced refs ‘running the line’ for older age groups.  From there you will move to refereeing Super 8 games for the age groups below you.

CVUSC has a large contingent of youth officials and a dedicated core of adult referees that provide officiating for all programs supported by our club. Officials for most levels of play are scheduled by our Referee Scheduler on a weekly basis.

Referee courses and clinics are scheduled annually.  Annual Re-certifications typically occur in September, dates and locations will be posted.
